Primescan Digital Scan

The Primescan is a digital intraoral camera that takes pictures of a patient’s mouth for highly accurate impressions. The digital scan doesn’t take long and is faster than traditional impressions. Our team uses the Primescan to scan your full arch of teeth in just a few minutes. The handheld device is perfect for checking your teeth, gums, and oral health, which we can observe on a nearby monitor for a closer examination. The Primescan advanced dental technology also helps us plan and design crowns and veneers.

CBCT Cone Beam 3D Imaging

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an advanced dental technology that allows us to take a 3D scan of your entire jaw and skull, as well as your teeth, bones, soft tissues, and nerve pathways. The pictures give our Encinitas dentist exact digital images of your mouth with minimal radiation exposure. With a clear view of your craniofacial region, we can see what dental treatments may be necessary and recommend treatment. At our office, we use the Sirona Orthophos SL for all of our cone beam 3D imaging.

Digital Dental X-Rays

Digital dental x-rays are convenient, efficient, and safe for taking accurate images of your teeth. The digitial x-ray process gives our dental team nearly instant pictures of your teeth and bones with 80 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays. Intraoral digital x-rays take pictures inside your mouth to reveal decay, bone density, root infections, fractures, tooth development, and placement. Extraoral digital x-rays take pictures outside the mouth to give a wide view of the jaw, show impacted teeth, evaluate the jaw joint, and plan treatments like braces.

CEREC® MCXL and CEREC® Primemill

The CEREC® Primemill allows us to create dental restorations like crowns, inlays, veneers, bridges, and abutments in our office. Advanced dental technology uses computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to give you restorations in as little as one visit to the dentist. With our digital impression technology, you can get a scan instead of biting into mold-making impressions, and the CEREC® Primemill makes extremely precise, esthetic results. Patients are able to get a permanent crown on the same day.

CO2 Laser Treatment

Our dental team uses CO2 laser treatment for pain-free dental fillings, bacteria removal, teeth whitening, crown lengthening, periodontal therapy, and many other treatments. Laser dentistry is a less invasive way to repair gum tissue, remove cavities, and reduce bleeding during dental treatment. A major benefit of CO2 laser treatment is that it sterilizes the oral area being treated, lowers the risk of infection, and accelerates the healing process. Lasers can also reveal wisdom teeth, restore damaged nerves, treat sleep apnea, and even remove benign tumors.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Millions of Americans suffer from dental anxiety and, as a result, avoid going to the dentist altogether even if they need treatment. Sedation dentistry makes it easy to stay relaxed during your treatment. Our office administers nitrous oxide sedation for patients who suffer from anxiety while at the dentist. Of course, sedation dentistry is also ideal for those who struggle to sit still in the dental chair or have a sensitive gag reflex.

The Wand™

When a dentist needs to perform a certain treatment, sometimes local anesthesia is required to remove any risk of discomfort. With the help of The Wand, a small, handheld device, administering local anesthesia just got much easier and a lot more effective. This technology provides anesthesia that is better guided, causes less pain, and offers more contained numbness for the treatment area. It’s far more comfortable than syringe, dramatically reduces anxiety, and eliminates collateral numbness, which can make it more difficult to continue your daily activities after the appointment ends.
